- OSGeo:UK Membership - how should this be defined? A number of suggestions / points were noted - these will be reviewed by the committee, and any change will be put forward to a general meeting:
- Membership of OSGeo should be a requirement, and can also sponsor
- Germany have a paid membership, on a sliding scale
- Some are not favour of charging
- OSGeo membership is confusing - there are differences between the wiki and the website
- Some people might want to be a member without being publicly listed
- Communications - update (inc. newsletter)
- We are active on Mastodon, LinkedIn, and Bluesky
- The newsletter has a subscription of 900 - 1,100 and a 25%-30% open rate - we have had 10 editions so far, and there is a form to submit news. Thanks to Al Graham for running this.
- FOSS4G:UK 2025 has been a big success - 180 delegates, 50+ talks and workshops, and positive feedback so far.
- Future events
- FOSS4G:UK 2026? This was not discussed specifically, but would be possibility if there is a group that wants to organise it.
- Discussion on international event 2nd October 13:30 This discussion was held on the second day of the conference - in short there is a desire to bid for FOSS4G for 2017 for the UK in Bristol, and around 20 people are willing to get involved.
- Funding of Open Source Geo Projects
- It is proposed to arrange a seperate call for this after FOSS4G when finances are clearer (GoFundGeo). It’s likely that between £5k and £10k will be avaialable for distribution.
- Any other business
- There was a discussion about diversity in the committee and membership - it was noted that no gender information was collected in registration for the conference, and that there should not be an expectation that women should always have to lead on this issue. It was recommended that the committee should consider ways of increasing diversity across OSGeo:UK.
